Herschel E. Smith, age 84 of Cumming , passed away Tuesday, March 25, 2008.  He was a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy Smith, sister Ida Manders and brother Jewell Smith. Survivors include his daughters and son-in-law Kathy and James Sheffield of Dawsonville and Gail Carter of Dawsonville; Son and daughter-in-law Rick and Lisa Smith of Dawsonville; grandchildren Jessica and Stephen Shook of Cumming and Ryan, Mason & Kaytlin Merrell of Dawsonville, Bridget Saylor of Cumming and Tara and Daniel Tatum of Dawsonville; great grandchildren Micah Saylor of Cumming and Carter and Chloe Tatum of Dawsonville; brother and sister-in-law Hoyt C. and Janell Smith of Canton; sister-in-law Voncile Smith of Cumming; and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive. Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 27, 2008 at 4:00pm at Ingram Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Robert Martin officiating. Interment will follow in Zion Hill Baptist Church cemetery. The family will receive friends at Ingram Funeral Home on Wednesday from 12:30 pm until 9:00 pm. Ingram Funeral and Crematory, Cumming, Georgia is in charge of the arrangements.
