Mrs. Martha Victoria Edwards, age 75, of Cumming passed away Thursday, March 20, 2008 at Peachtree Christian Hospice following a short illness. Mrs. Edwards was a lifetime member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church and retired from Southern Bell. Martha now joins her husband, the Rev. Wilburn Edwards, who together for 56 years, walked with God. Survivors include her daughters, Deborah A. Edwards Callaham and her husband, Jack Mahaffey Callaham, Jr. of Greensboro, NC, Phyllis Victoria Birt and her husband Kevin Birt of Cumming; a son, Jeff Edwards of Cumming; six grandchildren, Derryck Birt, Jennifer Birt, Jack Callaham, III, Laurel Sousa, Andrew Edwards and Natasha Washburn; two great grandchildren, Camryn and Savannah Birt. Martha is also survived by a large and loving extended family. Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 22, at 3:00 p.m. at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church with her remains placed in state at 2:00. Rev. Clyde Boling and Rev. Randy Richards will officiate. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 5:00 until 9:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Peachtree Christian Hospice, 3430 Duluth Park Lane, Duluth, GA 30096.
