Mrs. Monteze Barnett Stewart, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, died Monday, March 10, 2008 after a short illness. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Weldon H. Stewart, her loving daughter, Carole Stewart, her son and daughter-in-law Tony and Debbie Stewart, her grandson Travis Stewart and granddaughter Hannah Stewart. Mrs. Stewart lived almost all her 82 years in Forsyth County as did her parents, Mr. & Mrs. J. E. Barnett.  Mrs. Stewart was preceded in death by her 5 older brothers and 4 older sisters. Mrs. Stewart gives special thanks to her sisters-in-law, Sarah Barnett and Jean Hughes, and many nieces and nephews for their prayers and visits during her life and recent illness. Mrs. Stewart graduated from Forsyth County High in 1942 with highest honors. She worked at Fort McPherson during W W II and after Weldon's return from the War, they soon married and moved back to Forsyth County.  They owned a chicken farm, a service station and a trucking business. In addition to the businesses, Monteze found time to teach Sunday School,  be a class mother and was president of the Big Creek PTA. Mrs. Stewart enjoyed growing a big garden with her husband each summer. Monteze was an avid sports fan and loved watching her Braves, all Georgia Tech sports  and especially her grandson and granddaughter play baseball and softball.  Mrs. Stewart committed to Christ and spent her life attending Pleasant View Baptist Church which her family help to start. 

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 12, 2008 at 11:00 am at Pleasant View Baptist Church with Rev. Ronnie Bennett and Rev. Jerry McCormick officiating. Interment will follow in Pleasant View Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Ingram Funeral Home on Tuesday from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm.
