INBAU,
PERRIN A.
Perrin Alexander Inbau of Suwanee, Georgia died February
17, 2008. He was born March 24, 1931 in New Orleans,
Louisiana and was a resident of that city for thirty nine
years. He graduated from F.T. Nicholls High School in 1948
and Louisiana State University in 1952 with a BS in
Electrical Engineering. He was an avid Tiger fan, devoted
to his family, with an unshakeable love for God and country.
He
was employed at the Kaiser Aluminum reduction plant in
Chalmette, Louisiana until August 1952 when he enlisted in
the U.S. Navy. At the conclusion of Officer Candidate
School, he was commissioned an Ensign in the Navy Reserve
and ordered to Aviation Ground Officers School in
Jacksonville, Florida and then to Aviation Electronics
Officers School in Memphis, Tennessee. In September 1953 he
reported for duty at the Naval Air Test Center in Patuxent
River, Maryland and was the Project Engineer for two
airborne fire-control systems. During a test of one system,
he fired the twin 20mm cannons of the A3D aircraft's tail
turret, becoming the first person to do so. On his release
from active duty in October, 1955, he returned to Kaiser as
an engineer in the Power Division. He served in the Naval
Air Reserve in Anti-Submarine Squadron VS-822 as Electronics
Officer, Maintenance Officer and was promoted to
Lieutenant. He transferred to the Standby Reserve in 1963.
After
brief periods of employment at the Naval Station in New
Orleans and the Chrysler Space Division, he joined the
Installation and Service Engineering Department of General
Electric Company in 1964. He was a Professional Engineer in
Louisiana and a Field Engineer with GE until August, 1970
when he was selected as Supervisor-Technical Training to
establish the Technical Training Center in Atlanta, a
position he held until 1985. He retired from GE in 1988 and
moved to Forsyth County in 1995.
Mr.
Inbau was an adult leader in the Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts
of America in both New Orleans and Dunwoody, as well as a
merit badge counselor. In 1999 he joined American Legion
Post 307 and served as Adjutant and Historian.
His
parents were Fred and Pauline Inbau. His four siblings,
Fred, Jr., Edward, Mary Folse Guepet and William, as well as
his son Fred Inbau, preceded him in death. He is survived
by Sue, his best friend and wife of forty six years, stepson
Paul Pierce of Winder, daughter Margie Inbau and three
grandchildren, Sophie and Ted Shipley of Suwanee and Matthew
Inbau of Cebu, Philippines. Other survivors are nieces
Sybil Alexander of Lacombe, Louisiana, Beth Inbau of
Metairie, Louisiana and Tammy Byrer of Jacksonville, Florida
and nephews James Inbau of Montgomery, Alabama, Don Inbau of
Metairie, Louisiana, and Ronald Folse of Pensacola,
Florida.
Funeral services will be held at St. Columba's Episcopal
Church, 939 James Burgess Road, Suwanee, Georgia on
Wednesday, February 20 at 2:00 p.m. with The Reverend Tripp
Norris and The Reverend Joe Greene officiating. Interment
will be at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, Georgia
on Thursday, February 21, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of
flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St.
Columba's Episcopal Church (Camp Mikell Fund) or the charity
of your choice.
