Mr. Walter Shumate,
age 80 of Cumming, passed away Thursday, January 24, 2008.
He was a retired owner of Shumate Sanitation and a U.S. Army
World War II Veteran.
Survivors include: wife,
Leila Mae Shumate,
children, Lera Dorsey, Shirley James, Barbara and Tommy
Cagle, Brenda Gooch and David Martin, Ricky and Elaine
Shumate, Ronnie Shumate, Molly Cagle, Jimmy & Barbara
Melton, Gwen and Earnest Hyde, Jeff and Windy Shumate, and
Tammy & Charles Saylors; brother and sisters-in-law, Leon
and Dotsie Shumate, Rachel Shumate and Emma Shoemake;
brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Mr. & Mrs. Herman
Strayhorn, Mr. & Mrs. William D. Strayhorn and Mrs. Macie
Charles; 32 grandchildren; 42 great grandchildren; several
nieces, nephews; close friends, Brenda Lynn & Dora Anne.
Funeral services will be
held Saturday, January 26, 2008 at 3:00 pm in the Ingram
Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Robbie Mathis and Rev. Cecil
Pruitt officiating. Interment will follow at Sawnee View
Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be on Friday, January 25,
2008, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 9:00
p.m.
The family wishes to

Compassionate Care Hospice for the love and care given.
